About The Position

Agile Bookkeeping is a modern, AI-enabled accounting company focused on providing businesses across Canada with enhanced financial clarity, efficient systems, and improved decision-making. The company is rapidly expanding its physical office and seeks a CPA who is looking for more than traditional compliance work and file review. This role is designed for individuals who enjoy leadership, operational problem-solving, systems thinking, process improvements, and are enthusiastic about the impact of AI and automation on the accounting industry.

Requirements

  • CPA designation with proven leadership experience, including managing both people and client relationships.
  • Strong full-cycle accounting skills with technical proficiency and comfort in managing complex client files from start to finish.
  • Tech-savviness, including proficiency with QuickBooks, Dext, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Systems thinking ability to identify and fix slow or clunky processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in client calls and direct team interactions.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Natural mentoring ability, with a willingness to share knowledge and invest in team development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building automated models or writing scripts to eliminate repetitive work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of Staff Accountants and Associates, setting clear goals, tracking progress, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of work.
  • Manage a portfolio of large, complex client accounts, handling escalations, cleanups, and intricate accounting challenges.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, communicating with empathy, meeting regularly, and responding promptly to inquiries.
  • Mentor and develop team members, focusing on their technical skills, client communication, and professional judgment.
  • Monitor team capacity, reassign tasks, and proactively remove bottlenecks to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Maintain quality standards by reviewing files, enforcing bookkeeping standards, and providing direct, constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Client Financial Controller to drive process improvements in tools, systems, and workflows.
  • Support the full team lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, check-ins, performance feedback, and development planning.
  • Champion the company culture by modeling curiosity, ownership, communication, and empathy.
