About The Position

Provides accurate and timely notice to litigants of all Court orders and administrative actions and assists in the general operation of the Court.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Verifies that all pleadings received by the Clerk have been entered on the appropriate Chronological Case Summary.
  • Verifies that every document-related entry on a Chronological Case Summary (CCS) has a corresponding document attached to the entry.
  • Maintains pleadings in case files in chronological order (paper where applicable).
  • Provides litigants and others, including but not limited to, attorneys, Prosecutor’s Office, the Chief Public Defender, the Probation Department, the Sheriff’s Department, and Work Release, with electronic copies (paper where applicable) of all Court orders and administrative actions and enters date of notice and person(s) notified on the CCS.
  • Reviews all Court orders for judgments, satisfactions of judgment, and releases of judgment via bankruptcy, and assignments of judgment and notifies Clerk for entry into the Clerk’s official Record of Judgments and Orders.
  • Issues criminal summons, warrants, transport orders, protective orders, judgments, and other orders issued by the Court.
  • Processes all Court mail.
  • Processes various civil and criminal pleadings.
  • Provides clerical support to the Judge as requested, including contacting attorneys on specific matters, setting up conference calls, and drafting orders and documents for the Judge's review and signature.
  • Serves as liaison to attorneys, judges, or other local officials, providing information relating to court hearings and charges.
  • Responds to inquiries, complaints, and concerns as they arise as well as general inquiries from the media.
  • Answers questions concerning the general operation of the Court and directs attorneys and members of the public to the appropriate location.
  • Complies with the applicable provisions of the Indiana Code of Judicial Conduct.
  • Answers telephones.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Backs up other staff in the office as necessary.
