About The Position

This position provides support to users of the Special Education Student Information System (eStar) as well as performing some of the management functions of the system. The Clerk - Special Education will provide support to various school personnel including Diagnostic Specialists, Speech Language Pathologists, Special Education teachers, district administrators, Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, related service personnel, and campus administrators. This role involves assisting in the administration and maintenance of applications, creating training materials, providing end-user training, ensuring user satisfaction by responding to inquiries, logging and tracking user issues, responding to district requests for records, managing user accounts, and attending trainings to network with peers. Additionally, the position assists with the management of other computer systems within the special education department, handles SHARS duties as assigned, and provides personal care as identified in student IEPs.

Requirements

  • College hours, high school diploma or GED
  • Excellent typing, word processing and file maintenance skills
  • Ability to create forms, data/reports, charts, graphs
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent telephone and public relation skills
  • Knowledge of general office machines
  • Ability to work with people
  • Ability to keep information confidential

Nice To Haves

  • Successful work experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience in a helpdesk or support center environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to users of the Special Education Student Information System including but not limited to Diagnostic Specialists, Speech Language Pathologists, Special Education teachers, district administrators, Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, related service personnel, and campus administrators.
  • Assist in administration and maintenance of those applications.
  • Assist in creation of training materials or provide end-user training for those applications.
  • Ensure user satisfaction by responding to user questions and requests for assistance.
  • Log all user questions and problems and tracks the same through to resolution.
  • Respond to other district requests for records.
  • Manage user accounts.
  • Attend trainings to network with other district clerks with similar job responsibilities.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Assist with the management of additional computer systems in the special education department.
  • Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
  • Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
