Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Read, write legibly, understand and speak English
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word)
- Must be licensed with New Mexico Racing Commission
- Excellent customer service/communication skills
- Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Weigh jockeys out and in, and ensure that riders carry the correct assigned weight
- Records all over weights and reports all infractions to the Stewards
- Ensures all over weights are announced publicly and posted
- Must ensure that scales have been certified to be accurate by a reputable company or governmental agency prior to the start of the race meet
- Check scales for accuracy every race day
- Maintain accurate scale sheets for each race
- Must Assist Room custodian as necessary
- Must have thorough knowledge and understand the New Mexico rules of Racing
- Must perform other duties as assigned
