About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager, Nutrition Services and the Clinical Dietitians, the Clerk-Nutrition Services provides clerical support functions related to Nutrition Services. The incumbent is responsible for the data entry and daily input into the CBORD Diet Office system regarding admissions, food preferences, discharges, diet changes, transfers and nourishment information in a timely manner. The Clerk-Nutrition Services is responsible for the transfer of information to the RDF and printing of menus. The incumbent is responsible for visiting patients/residents and discussing food likes and dislikes and assists patients/ residents with marking menus. The Clerk-Nutrition Services monitors patients’/residents’ menu and food service satisfaction. Responsibilities also include observation of patient/ resident acceptance of meals through meal tray checks and reporting all feedback to Manager, Nutrition Services and Clinical Dietitians.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience with dietary software (CBORD Food Services Suite) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, outlook).
  • 1 year experience in an equivalent position preferably in a health care environment.
  • Grade 12, Manitoba standards.
  • Proficiency in CBORD Food Services Suite.
  • Keyboarding skills with an accuracy of 50 wpm.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Customer service orientated, demonstrating a high degree of patience and interest in the residents/patients.
  • Good judgment, asking for guidance, direction when necessary.
  • Works effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Set up and maintenance of accurate files and records.
  • Efficient use of systems and equipment typical of an office environment - computer terminal, fax and telephone for long periods of time. Involves some intermittent standing, walking and carrying.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format. with the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients/residents, or to other staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents, family members and coworkers.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
