About The Position

This is a part-time cleaning position at TJ Maxx, with an initial commitment of 8-12 hours per week, offering potential for growth. The role is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment, with a primary focus on floor care. This includes operating cleaning equipment like scrubbers and buffers, performing various cleaning tasks such as dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows. The position also requires adherence to operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards. Associates will be cross-trained in other store areas to support business needs and are expected to role-model positive customer experience practices and store culture. Health and safety compliance, including refilling essential items in restrooms and lounges, is also a key responsibility. The role may involve light maintenance tasks like changing sweeper belts and buffer pads, and potentially climbing ladders for tasks such as cleaning windows, vents, and ceiling tiles. The environment is fast-paced, requiring efficiency and ambition.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a clean and organized store environment with a focus on floor care.
  • Operating the scrubber and buffer.
  • Performing dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows.
  • Adhering to all operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards.
  • Cross-training to work in multiple areas of the store to support business needs.
  • Role-modeling established customer experience practices with internal and external customers.
  • Supporting and embodying a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
  • Maintaining all floor care cleanliness standards, including the maintenance and operation of the scrubber and buffer.
  • Maintaining all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the entire store (Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, and Restrooms).
  • Adhering to all company policies concerning Health and Safety (including refilling essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms, and Front End).
  • Supporting and responding to all Front End coverage needs.
  • Adhering to and upholding merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
  • Initiating and participating in store recovery as needed throughout the day.
  • Adhering to all operational and loss prevention controls in accordance with company guidelines and policies, including shrink reduction.
  • Communicating accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
  • Adhering to all labor laws, policies, and procedures, including Associate meal and break period policies.
  • Participating in safety awareness and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Climbing ladders for windows, vents, and ceiling tiles.
  • Accomplishing light maintenance such as changing sweeper belts, bags, and buffer pads.
