About The Position

The Cleaning Team Member is responsible for maintaining a high standard of the store's overall look and feel, which includes upholding cleanliness and recovery standards to deliver Brand Promises. This role also involves delivering friendly customer service, assisting customers in navigating the store, and locating desired items. The position requires adherence to approved procedures for collecting and disposing of trash, as well as dusting and damp mopping floors. Team members will move equipment and products for cleaning and ensure products are returned to their correct placement. Cleaning will be performed in assigned areas using designated materials and equipment. This may involve mixing cleaning solutions according to specifications. The role includes deep cleaning of key store areas such as bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic zones to ensure a clean and safe environment for both customers and staff. Team members must maintain cleaning equipment neatly, notify supervisors of supply needs in advance, and proactively identify and address areas requiring cleaning. All tasks assigned by the supervisor must be completed in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines. Maintaining positive and respectful interactions with colleagues and customers, even in challenging situations, is crucial, aligning with the organization's vision and values. The role also involves projecting a positive image and serving as a role model for other team members. Additional duties may include providing a fast and friendly checkout experience, executing cash handling, engaging customers about the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, assisting with Omni channel processes (BOPIS, SFS), participating in truck un-loads, stocking, and planogram processes, and supporting shrink and safety programs. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs is required to ensure compliance with laws and requirements.

Michaels requires all team members in this role to be at least sixteen (16) years or older.

Responsibilities

Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures.
Dusts and damp mops floors following approved procedures.
Moves equipment and products for proper cleaning and places products back in correct placement.
Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment.
Deep cleans key areas of the store including but not limited to bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways and other high traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.
Keeps cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notifies supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.
Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.
Maintains positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations, in keeping with the organization’s vision and values.
Projects a positive image and serves as a role model for other Team Members.
Provides a fast and friendly check out experience; executes cash handling to standards.
Engages customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and completes enrollments.
Assists with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS).
Participates in the truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
Supports shrink and safety programs.
Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; executes Company policies and standards.
