About The Position

This position is for a Cleaning Mech/Tech I who is passionate about human space exploration and wants to make a difference by working with a diverse team. The role involves disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling components and assemblies to meet specified cleaning standards. Work will be performed under direct supervision or involve simple tasks. The technician will maintain and operate under clean room standards, log data for work performed, and bag and tag items for cleanliness and tracking. This is a CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) position.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to hold necessary security clearances.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Must be able to see color differentiation when using ultraviolet light.
Requires occasional: Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above or below ground level.
Requires occasional: Hearing with or without correction.
Requires occasional: Bending, kneeling crouching, squatting and/or crawling from one to 30 minutes at a time.
Requires occasional: Reaching for, handling and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
Requires Frequent: Lifting to 20 pounds from ground level and waist level.
Requires Constant: Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
Requires Constant: Carrying up to 20 pounds for 20 yards.
Requires Constant: Standing.
Requires Constant: Seeing with or without correction.
Ability to follow set procedures and standards.
Ability to plan work and select proper tools.
Ability to follow written and oral directions, plans and blueprints.
Ability to picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked.
Ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
Must wear PPE and clothing for clean room environment.
A respirator may be used when filling/using chemical.

Nice To Haves

Prior clean room experience which includes the following cleaning methods: abrasive, chemical (solvent based), ultrasonic.
Clean room protocols and familiarization with maintenance procedures (sticky pads, filter change out, etc.).
Handling of NASA flight hardware.

Responsibilities

Disassemble, clean, and reassemble components and assemblies for the purpose of cleaning contamination to a specified cleaning standard, requirement, or per instruction.
Perform simple tasks under direct supervision of another technician.
Maintain and operate under clean room standards.
Log data for work performed.
Bag and tag items to maintain cleanliness and tracking of flight and non-flight purposes.
Perform related duties as required.
Operate and maintain chemical vats, pumps, ultrasonic cleaners, compressed air, purified water, and wash tanks/sinks.
Use ultraviolet lamps, magnifying lenses, and other visual inspection tools.
Use heat sealing machines for bagging/wrapping.
Use computer workstations, peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, and print documents.
Use other office machines (printer, fax, etc.).
Work in a team atmosphere.
Put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule.
Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
