About The Position

At TJX Companies, the Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment, with a primary focus on floor care. This role involves operating cleaning equipment such as scrubbers and buffers, as well as performing general cleaning tasks like dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows. The associate is expected to adhere to all operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards. They will be cross-trained to work in various areas of the store to support business needs and are expected to role model established customer experience practices, embodying a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect. The position also includes maintaining cleanliness standards across the entire store, including the Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, and Restrooms, and adhering to company policies concerning Health and Safety. Additionally, the associate will support Front End coverage, uphold merchandising and signage standards, participate in store recovery, and communicate effectively with management and other associates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and organized store environment with a focus on floor care
• Operate the scrubber and buffer
• Perform dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows
• Adhere to all operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards
• Be cross-trained to work in multiple areas of the store to support business needs
• Role model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers
• Support and embody a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect
• Maintain all floor care cleanliness standards including the maintenance and operation of the scrubber and buffer
• Maintain all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the entire store, e.g. Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom and Restrooms
• Adhere to all company policies concerning Health and Safety (includes the refilling of all essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms and Front End)
• Support and respond to all Front End coverage needs
• Adhere and uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards
• Initiate and participate in store recovery as needed throughout the day
• Adhere to all operational and loss prevention controls in accordance with company guidelines and policies including shrink reduction
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates
• Adhere to all labor laws, policies, and procedures, including Associate meal and break period policies
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
