About The Position

The Cleaner works under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and performs a variety of custodial duties for C&W Services in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures. The role is on call during evening hours.

Duties include cleaning floors, rugs, furniture, fixtures, windows, doors, walls, and bathrooms; restocking bathroom supplies; collecting and disposing of trash; and, as directed, clearing snow from steps and walkways. The Cleaner also performs periodic high dusting, polishing, and wall washing, monitors and reports possible defects, and carries out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required for basic cleaning responsibilities.
• Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment, including a portable backpack-style vacuum cleaner.
• Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other interior surfaces.
• Use commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines, including their attachments.
• Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot-clean rugs daily and shampoo them when directed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and other horizontal surfaces, including periodic high dusting.
• Wash windowsills and glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, both inside and outside.
• Spot-clean interior walls as appropriate each day.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily, including cleaning surfaces and floors and servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers.
• Monitor for defects such as clogged urinals or lights that are out, and report them to supervisors.
• Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers and designated collection areas, and replace liners according to specifications.
• Sweep or shovel snow from building entrance steps and connecting walkways or sidewalks as directed.
• Perform periodic high dusting, leather and wood surface care, polishing, and wall washing.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
