About The Position

Humboldt Sawmill Company is looking for a Clean-Up worker to join their team in Scotia, CA. This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $24.87. The position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance. The Mendocino Companies own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as instructions, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Knowledge of basic math
Must be willing to work multiple shifts.

Nice To Haves

One months related sawmill / planer experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

Keeps designated areas, as assigned by supervisor, clean and clear of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips and other foreign objects
Operates chain saw to cut up scrap lumber and broken logs
Uses hand tools to move sawdust, chips and bark into conveyors, bins and scoop on tractor
Operates Bobcat and forklift to transport debris to conveyors or disposal site
May pull strips off of transfer chains into conveyors to chippers
May keep lumber straight on transfer chains to trimmer
Empties all garbage cans in and around sawmill
Provides assistance where needed
