About The Position

This position is for a Clean Room Lab Technician I who is passionate about human space exploration and understanding the origins of the universe. The role involves working with a passionate and diverse team to make a difference in NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration. The company is NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, working with NASA at centers across the United States. This is a CBA position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety materials and laboratory operating procedures for controlled clean rooms.
  • Able to operate and handle basic hand-held tools.
  • Able to communicate effectively with other employees, teammates, and department leads.
  • Work in a team environment with good communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain required courses and certifications.
  • Must be a non-smoker to meet Class 10 cleanroom requirements.
  • Requires Constant: Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above or below ground level.
  • Requires Constant: Kneeling and crawling from 1 to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Requires Constant: Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
  • Requires frequent: Bending, kneeling crouching/ squatting from one to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Requires frequent: Reaching for, handling and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
  • Requires frequent: Lifting to 25 pounds from ground level, at waist level and overhead.
  • Requires frequent: Carrying up to 25 pounds for 2 yards.
  • Requires frequent: Standing.
  • Requires Occasional: Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
  • Requires Occasional: Bending at waist from 1 to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Requires the ability to: Follow set procedures and standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of nitrogen, ultra-pure water, and O2 sensors.
  • Familiar with working with various types of metals and materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, Teflon, Lexan and quartz glass.
  • Basic knowledge working with cleanroom sensitive equipment and instruments such as heat sealers, sonicators, ovens, and fume-hoods.
  • Basic knowledge in calculating and verifying sample particle counting.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks resulting in consistent productivity.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of laboratory cleaning techniques, methods, and equipment.
  • Assist with precision cleaning of equipment, instruments, sample processing cabinets and/or desiccators.
  • Perform housekeeping task assignments inside state-of-the-art cleanrooms laboratories and research labs that have highly sensitive equipment and samples.
  • Monitor usage of Ultra-Pure Water and GN2 systems in laboratory environments, including cleanrooms.
  • Perform particle counts on cleaning equipment, tools, and instruments and record data in an electronic format.
  • Perform monthly laboratory routine tasks to replace gloves on processing cabinets.
  • Perform inventory control of cleanroom garments, consumable supplies, and chemicals as required.
  • Assist in the removal of lunar sample debris according to established procedures as required.
  • Assist with VIP tour setups and sample inventory audits.
  • Perform assigned work and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Perform related duties as required.
