About The Position

Con Edison is a major energy utility investing in the clean energy transition, focusing on distributed resources, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and energy efficiency. This role is part of a large EV team and offers the opportunity to gain experience in the clean energy transition and the EV charging market. The position supports one of the country's largest EV incentive programs and plays a key role in the buildout of EV charging in the New York City area. The Clean Energy Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for developing and implementing processes for analyzing, monitoring, verifying, forecasting, and reporting on financial information for the E-mobility and Demonstrations teams' programs. This includes coordinating with internal staff, supporting groups, and external vendors to develop budgets (Regulatory-Asset, Capital, and O&M), and monitoring performance against budgets and forecasts. The role also involves processing vendor invoices and customer incentive payments accurately and in compliance with company policies, maintaining organized records, and mentoring junior staff. Additionally, the analyst will assist with the month-end close process, including compiling expenditures, leading review and verification, and handling transfers and corrections. Preparation of required financial and regulatory reports by due dates is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Related experience in accounting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and business operations.
  • Flexibility to work through ambiguity and comfort working in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting concepts, with the ability to explain those concepts to non-financial professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to see the big picture, and attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to collaborate with employees and executive management at all levels to build consensus.
  • Proven financial modeling skills and the ability to perform independent research.
  • Driver's License Required.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing processes for analyzing, monitoring, verifying, forecasting, and reporting on financial information for the E-mobility and Demonstrations team's portfolio of programs.
  • Coordinating with other Company staff, supporting groups, and external vendors to develop the Regulatory-Asset, Capital, and O&M budgets, and monitoring results against budget and program forecasts.
  • Processing vendor invoices and customer incentive payments timely, accurately, and in compliance with company policies and procedures, ensuring invoice records and supporting documentation are maintained and well-organized.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior staff to perform the referenced functions.
  • Assisting with the month-end close process, including compiling all expenditures in the department and leading the process for review, verification, and transfers and corrections of expenditures on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing required financial and regulatory reports by prescribed due dates.
  • Developing and implementing systems to analyze, monitor, verify, forecast, and report on financial information for relevant programs.
  • Partnering with department program managers and other Staff to develop the annual and five-year budgets, rolling forecasts, and research monthly variances.
  • Reporting on financial results versus budgets and forecasts to the department and executives.
  • Managing the month-end financial close and financial analysis and reporting processes.
  • Performing contract management activities including submitting requisitions, processing change requests, creating purchase orders, managing blanket purchasing agreements, etc.
  • Coordinating with other Company FP&A staff to develop the capital, balance sheet (regulatory asset), and O&M budgets and monitor results against the budget.
  • Responsible for month-end accrual and receipting process including monthly true-ups and invoice review.
  • Responsible for development of a departmental financial dashboard to capture key performance and financial information.
  • Tracking and maintaining developed financial dashboards providing the ability to report departments key financial details for executive communication, regulatory reporting, and compliance tracking purposes.
  • Setting up new vendors for payment which includes contacting the vendor and obtaining the required documentation.
  • Responsible for handling departments P-Card transactions.
  • Coordinating with key stakeholders to oversee the development of financial controls, processes, and procedures.
  • Managing the invoice and customer incentive payment processes and ensuring allocations for invoice payments are accurate and complete.
  • Responding to internal/external audit inquiries timely.
  • Performing other related tasks and assignments as required while providing guidance and mentoring junior staff.
