About The Position

The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life, and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents and staff members. The teacher will document student progress, activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework and professional growth activities.

Requirements

Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement.
Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
Principles, goals and objectives of public education
Curriculum and other developmental programs
Abide by all district policies and procedures along with building/department practices
Adhere to federal, state laws and district regulations, policies procedures and practices
Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc.
Abides by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement
Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
Maintain regular punctual attendance

Nice To Haves

Multiple Endorsements preferred
Experience in teaching in an alternative school, preferably a parent partnership program.
Prior experience in the school setting preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
Ability to work with minimum direction, but work as an effective member of a team.
Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment
Experience with Homeschooling
