About The Position

To provide students with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills aligned with college and career readiness standards through the Introduction to PATH course. The teacher will deliver instruction based on industry-aligned content, including the National Center for Construction Education and Research Core Curriculum, ensuring students are prepared for advanced Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways and workforce opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Mississippi teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver hands-on instruction and manage a lab-based learning environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

  • Preferred endorsement: 916 –Exploring Careers, or applicable CTE endorsement
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or related technical field.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety practices related to construction and skilled trades.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements instructional plans aligned to the Introduction to PATH curriculum, including Basic Safety, Construction Math, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Communication Skills, Employability Skills, and Material Handling.
  • Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences and diverse learning needs.
  • Delivers content in accordance with Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) standards and district expectations.
  • Utilizes hands-on, lab-based instructional strategies to provide real-world application of construction and technical skills.
  • Maintains a safe and organized classroom/lab environment, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Integrates instructional technology (e.g., interactive boards, digital tools) to enhance student learning.
  • Assesses student learning through formal and informal methods and uses data to guide instruction.
  • Collaborates with special education staff to modify curriculum and support all learners.
  • Works cooperatively with district staff, industry partners, and postsecondary institutions, including Hinds Community College, to align instruction with workforce and dual enrollment opportunities.
  • Facilitates career awareness through guest speakers, industry visits, and exposure to multiple career pathways, including construction, manufacturing, and skilled trades.
  • Promotes employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and professionalism.
  • Manages student behavior and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning and safety.
  • Supervises students during classroom, lab, and off-campus learning experiences.
  • Maintains accurate student records, monitors academic progress, and communicates effectively with students and parents.
  • Participates in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Assists in the selection and maintenance of instructional materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Supports the overall implementation of the district’s PATH initiative and workforce development goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
