About The Position

The Classroom Teacher III is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive learning environment for young children. This role involves planning and implementing curriculum, conducting developmental screenings and assessments, maintaining detailed documentation, and communicating effectively with parents and colleagues. The teacher will ensure that all children receive individualized attention and support, including those with special needs, and will adhere to all health, safety, and food program regulations. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or a related field with specific early childhood education credits, or a state-issued Teaching License. Experience with children aged 0-5 is preferred, as is bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English. Basic computer skills and reliable transportation are also necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related field with 18 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education, OR a Bachelor’s degree in any field with a state-issued Teaching License to act as a pre-kindergarten or early childhood (regular or special education) teacher.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and internet usage.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license with adequate car insurance.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or irregular hours with some travel.
  • Criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Physical exam and TB screening test showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
  • Complete SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children.
  • Fire Extinguisher Training.
  • Proof of certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid within 30 days or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
  • Register in the State Childcare registry.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred teaching experience with children ages 0-5.
  • Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, complete, and track all required home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Schedule and complete child developmental screenings and assessments.
  • Ensure collection of and timely online entry of classroom observations and documentation.
  • Complete assessment finalization checkpoints for all children within the specified time frame.
  • Use assessment results to create/update individualized plans in conjunction with parents to address each child’s needs and track progress.
  • Plan and implement indoor and outdoor learning environments and experiences using the Creative Curriculum System, UMOS School Readiness Plan, and the Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework.
  • Implement daily activity plans, field trips, and transition activities.
  • Submit completed, legible, required documents to the Child Development Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Implement Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children with disabilities, integrating Individual Goals into individualized plans and lesson planning, and tracking progress.
  • Maintain required documentation on children and classroom activities, including child roster/absentee list, meal count, classroom child file, case notes, developmental screenings, and assessments.
  • Submit written reports to the Child Development Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Maintain written and verbal communication with families regarding developmental progress and other pertinent information using the PFCE Framework.
  • Implement and document the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in accordance with regulations, including conducting and participating in family-style meals.
  • Implement required health and safety policies and procedures, including storage of hazardous materials, health and safety checklists, daily child observation, diapering, injury/accident prevention, child accident reports, sanitizing, cleaning, and universal precautions.
  • Participate in the ongoing weekly generation and collection of non-federal shares (in-kind).
  • Use positive guidance strategies to help children learn, monitor, and promote positive behaviors.
  • Demonstrate active supervision by maintaining direct sight and sound supervision of all children.
  • Communicate, assist, and work with other staff in the coordination of arrival and departure of children, setup and cleanup of environments, and work with bus staff to ensure clear communication between center and parents.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and center activities as assigned.
  • May be requested to assist in training and/or supporting other teaching staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
