About The Position
San Marcos Academy (SMA), located in San Marcos, one of the fastest growing regions in Texas, is a fully accredited private Christian school for students in PreK 3 through 12th grade, with a boarding program for students in grades 6–12. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid teaching certification (Texas certification preferred)
- Possess basic computer skills
- Additional qualifications may be required for specific positions
- Strong understanding of upper elementary development
Responsibilities
- Teach full day (7:25 am to 4:00 pm)
- Serve as a role model for students
- Observe policies, procedures, and directives from school administration
- Integrate technology into curriculum delivery
- Implement effective classroom and behavior management skills
- Keep student management system up-to-date with grades and lesson plans (Blackbaud Education Management)
- Manage support materials (curriculum manipulatives and technology devices) used throughout the year
- Work collegially with others
- Incorporate best practices into classroom instructional strategies
- Come to class/work each day with materials and plans fully prepared for the day
- Employ school-wide adopted curriculum as directed by the school administration
- Embrace school-wide initiatives for student growth and spiritual development
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction
- Foster students’ development of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners through intentional instruction and targeted interventions.
