About The Position

Want a job where you actually make a difference? As a BrightBee classroom substitute, you will support the full group instruction of students at our partner sites in the Detroit area. We are partnered with UPrep and DAAS to find substitute teachers across all grade levels and content areas. This role is perfect for an individual with a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and youth, who aligns with our mission of supporting workers, students, and schools while promoting academic success. You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teachers, students, and school staff. The ability to quickly adapt to varying classroom environments, student needs, and instructional approaches is crucial. Dependability and punctuality are vital for fulfilling on-demand job opportunities efficiently. Prior to working with students, you will need to pass a background check, livescan and may need to obtain other necessary testing/clearances. BrightBee centers child safety at the core of its work. Applicants must undergo a background check, adhere to a code of conduct, and comply with all mandated reporter training and reporting requirements. Assignments may require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 60 college credits in order to apply for Michigan sub permit.
  • Some prior experience working with K-12 students in educational settings, required.
  • Availability for school day (7am-4pm).
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and youth.
  • Alignment to our mission of supporting workers, students, and schools while promoting academic success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to varying classroom environments, student needs, and instructional approaches.
  • Dependability and punctuality.
  • Pass a background check, livescan and may need to obtain other necessary testing/clearances.
  • Provide authorization to contact former employers.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
