About The Position

This is an entry-level IT support role focused on customer service, assisting students and faculty with library print stations and classroom technology. The position involves monitoring and maintaining public print stations, answering a support hotline, responding to classroom technical issues, and providing technology demonstrations. Additional tasks may include supporting special events and, for some team members, acting as a telephone operator for the university.

Requirements

  • Punctual, patient, and calm demeanor in tense situations.
  • Good communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented to document all help requests or incidents.
  • Comfortable learning new technology, including Microsoft Teams.
  • Must be available to work at least 10 hours a week.
  • Must be available for morning and weekend shifts.
  • Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University.
  • General knowledge of campus departments (for telephone operator role).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor public print stations in the library, refilling paper, toner, and clearing jams.
  • Use Pharos printing software to issue reprints for customers experiencing printing errors.
  • Answer the classroom support telephone hotline and respond to calls by going to classrooms to triage or fix basic computer problems.
  • Escalate more complicated technical issues to tier 2 support (Tulane AV team).
  • Provide classroom technology demonstrations to professors by appointment.
  • Assist with other tasks for special events, such as hanging posters, sorting items, unloading office supply orders, and transporting equipment.
  • Optionally, answer the main Tulane telephone line and direct calls as a student telephone operator.
