About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Child Development Centers, the Classroom Educator will perform daily desk functions, assist in the classroom and with parents and families. This role operates in an early childhood learning environment and involves frequent contact with clients who may have varying degrees of hygiene and illness. The position also includes exposure to outside weather conditions and requires the use of standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must be able to assist other staff during an emergency situation. This position is typically Monday through Friday with daytime and evening hours, and some holidays may be required. Work times and locations may vary depending on agency needs. Travel is primarily local during the business day.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • A Criminal Background and Abuse check is required.
  • An up to date physical, including a TB test is required.
  • A fingerprint background check is also required for all Child Development Programs.
  • A valid driver’s license and a driving record sufficient to qualify for agency automobile coverage.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Adult and Child Food Program guidelines and accreditation standards.
  • Enters data for the on-line Gold Assessment for classrooms.
  • Keeps attendance for classroom and clocks children in and out.
  • Assists in the classrooms, as needed.
  • Engages the children on a daily basis in order to build relationships and facilitate the check in and out procedures.
  • Facilitate relationship building with children, teachers and family.
  • Other duties as assigned.
