About The Position

The Classroom Associate supports classroom teachers with instruction and student supervision. The essential functions represent key areas of responsibility; specific requirements may vary depending on district needs. This position is funded with Title I funds and is classified as an Associate in the Office of Schools. The position follows a 190-day calendar with a 7.5-hour workday and is non-exempt. Candidates offered a position must successfully pass criminal background and child and adult abuse registry checks. Certain positions may also require fingerprinting, drug and alcohol testing, a physical capacity test, and/or a motor vehicle record check.

Requirements

• High school diploma, HiSET, or GED.
• Ability to relate to students.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to attend work promptly and regularly.
• Ability to maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the classroom teacher with reading and math instruction, including working with small groups or individual students.
• Assist the teacher in monitoring student progress by maintaining records and providing feedback as requested.
• Follow the classroom teacher's directions for instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers using developmentally appropriate practices.
• Use positive reinforcement techniques and strategies to assist with behavior management throughout the school routine, including transitions, lunch, and recess.
• Attend provided training to maintain professional learning and growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
