About The Position

To assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups in the classroom or instructional resource setting. The Classroom Assistant will utilize a variety of instructional techniques to promote the academic progress of the students. An understanding, patient and receptive attitude will be displayed toward the students. The Classroom Assistant supervises and assists with student and classroom management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of college or satisfactory completion of the Local Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • Required clearances.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with all students and not just those that are at-risk.
  • Reinforce instruction to individuals or small groups as directed by the teacher.
  • Monitor student work and report student progress in reference to performance to the classroom teacher.
  • Develop a positive rapport with all students and treat students with respect.
  • Model appropriate behaviors.
  • Respect and follow the policies and procedures established for the class by the classroom teacher.
  • Respect and follow the policies and procedures established by the school which includes adherence to Professional Standard of Conduct including confidentiality, code of ethics and appropriate use of the internet, as outlined in Policy and Procedures manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Keep records of activities through the use of a daily log.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development in current best practices being implemented at MaST.
  • Take a 15-minute break daily.
  • Follow all approved board of trustee policies including Financial and Purchasing, Attendance, Implementation of RtII and Curriculum Implementation.
  • Perform other duties appropriate to the position and job title, as assigned by the CEO/principal/classroom teacher.
