Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working with children ages 3-5, preferably in licensed childcare setting
  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR within 6 months
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Flexibility for varying schedules
  • Completion of Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent ECE course) required by Wisconsin licensing OR must complete within 6 months (for Classroom Aide I)
  • Documentation of enrollment and completion of minimum one course toward Preschool Credential OR CDA (for Classroom Aide II)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Hmong and/or Spanish preferred
  • Experience with low-income, multicultural families preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing activities that promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • Support programming for children ages 3-5 in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards
  • Ensure compliance with Wisconsin Child Care Licensing, City of Madison Accreditation, and Wisconsin Young Star standards
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community members
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support multicultural and multilingual learning experiences
  • Assist with daily classroom routines and activities
  • Work collaboratively under the direction of the Classroom Teacher
