About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor and the Head Teacher, the Classroom Aide is primarily responsible to assist the Head Teacher in developing a nurturing and challenging classroom environment. The Classroom Aide assists in planning and implementing classroom activities as organized by the Teacher and performs daily classroom management and program operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional courses or specialized training at a business or community college, or other formal training facility or program.
Ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively.
Able to operate a fax and copy machine.
CPR and First Aid certificate required upon hire.
Valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract.
Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
Subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
Only routine contact within the unit or department.

Nice To Haves

Computer skills helpful.
One year’s experience in a childcare setting (home or center based) preferred.
CDA credential, state awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirement for a CDA credential.
Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university.
Enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate or Baccalaureate degree.
Enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years (24 months) of the time of hire.
