About The Position

MWVCAA is seeking a mission-driven individual to join their team as an Early Head Start Classroom Aide. This role involves supporting Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and Family Educators in providing assistance in education, food service, and cleaning within the Early Head Start program. The position offers opportunities for professional development and hands-on experience in a free preschool program. This is a part-time position offering 20-29 hours per week with full benefits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment physical examination, renewable every two years.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Demonstrated ability with computer software including Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel) and video conferencing platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in early childhood education or Head Start programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain classroom environments.
  • Creating a supportive social-emotional climate which enhances children's understanding of themselves as individuals and in relation to others.
  • Developing children's cognitive skills.
  • Providing a language and literacy rich environment, enhancing children's excitement about language and literacy, and developing positive relationships with those learning English as a second language.
  • Participates with children in gross motor activities.
  • Maintains a positive demeanor when working with children; talking, playing, laughing and singing.
  • Participates in children's activities.
  • Spontaneous and flexible in meeting children's individual needs, encouraging children to verbalize their own feelings and ideas.
  • Anticipates and acts upon children's needs and difficulties.
  • Supports teacher in the areas of classroom maintenance, social-emotional climate, cognitive skills development, language and literacy enrichment, gross motor activities, and general participation in children's activities.
