About The Position

The Classification Specialist plays a critical role in enabling compliant, efficient global distribution of DePuy Synthes products. This position is responsible for the accurate classification of products and materials to support trade compliance, customs activities, and seamless supply chain execution. By ensuring correct classification and documentation, this role directly supports on‑time delivery, cost control, and regulatory compliance across domestic and international markets. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of supply chain operations, regulatory requirements, and global logistics within a leading orthopaedics organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Typically 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, trade compliance, or a related operational role.
  • Working knowledge of product classification principles and global trade concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data accurately in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to interpret regulations, guidance documents, and technical product information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • English proficiency required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced coursework or certification in trade compliance or global logistics.
  • Experience supporting import/export operations or customs activities.
  • Familiarity with ERP or trade compliance systems used in supply chain environments.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional and global teams.
  • Continuous improvement or process documentation experience.
  • Additional languages are a plus.
  • Trade compliance or customs‑related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Classify products, components, and materials in accordance with applicable tariff schedules and trade regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete classification records to support audits, customs inquiries, and internal reviews.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Trade Compliance, Regulatory, and Logistics teams to resolve classification‑related questions or discrepancies.
  • Support import/export activities by providing timely and accurate classification data for shipping documentation.
  • Monitor changes in trade regulations and classification rules and assess potential impacts to the business.
  • Assist with internal controls, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives related to classification processes.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Respond to internal and external requests related to product classification and trade compliance.
