About The Position

At the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, the mission is to promote safety for the citizens of the commonwealth by operating an efficient adult correctional institution. Our main purpose is to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for its residents and to prepare incarcerated felons for a successful reintegration into society using constructive classification, employment training programs, treatment services, and social programs.
The Classification and Treatment Officer is vital to this mission by performing duties in the evaluation, assessment, and counseling of inmates.

Requirements

• Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
• Meet all federal and state laws applicable to the carrying, use, and possession of firearms and ammunition at the time of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Additional experience in corrections, law enforcement, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year for year basis.
• Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing, evaluating, and assessing inmates to identify behavioral patterns.
• Developing case history on inmates.
• Serving on committees to determine classification.
• Preparing reports to assist with classification.
• Providing daily counsel to inmates regarding the institution, as well as personal or family matters.
• Responding to inmate requests and outside agencies.
