About The Position

The CLASS Specialist oversees the implementation and integrity of the CLASS observation system across Jefferson Parish, including planning and managing state required CLASS observations for network sites, public Pre-K, and Pre-K/K special education classrooms. This role ensures observations are completed within required timelines, coordinates double-coding for reliability, and manages the appeals process. The CLASS Observation Specialist supports observer quality by maintaining certification compliance, monitoring reliability, providing training on CLASS protocols, and reviewing contracted observer invoices and hours. Additionally, this position ensures alignment with Louisiana Department of Education and PICARD guidelines through protocol review, documentation, and reporting, while also supporting broader early childhood efforts such as CDA processes, family enrollment support, conducting observations, maintaining trainer certifications, and assisting with budget planning and LDOE compliance reports.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement, and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations
  • An earned Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • CLASS certification (Infant/Toddler and PreK-3rd) or completion of CLASS certifications when training is offered
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to conduct effective meetings and staff development activities

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, scheduling, and completion of CLASS observations across network and school-based Pre-K classrooms
  • Coordinate double-coding, monitor timelines, and manage the observation appeals process
  • Ensure observer certification, reliability, and provide ongoing training and support
  • Review and approve contracted observer invoices and monitor hours for budget alignment
  • Maintain compliance with LDOE and PICARD guidelines, including required reporting and documentation
  • Conduct CLASS observations and must maintain observer certifications (Infant/Toddler and PreK-3rd)
  • Support CDA application processes
  • Assist with family enrollment/registration efforts
  • Collaborate on budget planning, projections, and all Early Childhood LDOE compliance reports to support early childhood network operations, including entries into the Child Care Resource and Referral MOS system
  • Perform and other duties as assigned by the Director of Network Services.
