About The Position

Unitex is currently seeking a skilled Class C Manufacturing Mechanic/Technician to join our team in Newburgh, NY. This position requires one year of mechanical work experience and has tremendous growth potential. The salary range for this position is $22.00/hour to $27.00/hour. Actual compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, seniority, location, and other permissible job-related factors. The schedule is to be discussed during screening prior to interview, based on seniority per Union Contract. This is a full-time position, 5 days per week, with potential for overtime. Work uniforms are provided at no cost. Benefits include paid time off for vacation, personal, sick and holidays. Unitex is a stable, 100+ year old company with growth opportunities. Training on industrial laundry equipment is provided by on-site management, and a maintenance technician training platform with an extensive online library of technical courses and full simulation for troubleshooting training is available at no cost. Training accomplishments may provide opportunities to increase mechanic classification scale and hourly pay rates. Unitex also offers incentive pay for acquiring special licenses (Black Seal / Boiler) and excels at mentoring entry-level mechanics.

Requirements

  • Strong desire to learn industrial laundry maintenance and grow within the company.
  • Punctual and reliable a must - shift starts as early as 5:30 AM.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Class C Manufacturing Mechanic/Technician or similar role in an industrial setting.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and practices in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and other departments.
  • A computerized assessment is utilized as part of the recruiting process.

Responsibilities

  • Spends a good part of the day maintaining and fixing industrial dryers.
  • Repairs carts, maintains slings, takes on small projects, and performs routine maintenance and repairs on industrial laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and press machines.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance inspections to identify potential problems and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute equipment upgrades, installations, and modifications as needed.
