About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced CDL B Commercial Rear Load Truck Drivers for their Stamford, CT location. This is a year-round, steady work opportunity with early start times (4 am or 5 am) and no overnights. Drivers will be responsible for safely operating rear-loading trucks for the pick-up of waste or recyclable materials, transporting them to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. The role may involve multiple trips per shift and requires navigating congested communities and tight city areas, necessitating highly skilled backing maneuvers. Drivers will also climb in and out of the truck cab multiple times per route and perform pre and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
  • Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work.
  • Must be able to drive a Manual Transmission
  • 1 year Rear Load experience is REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transporting material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility.
  • Making one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Performing driver pre and post inspections.
  • Ensuring truck follows IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
  • Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
