About The Position

Unitex is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Class B Manufacturing Mechanic/Technician to join our manufacturing team in Newburgh, NY. This is a full-time union position with benefits, offering a competitive hourly rate and opportunities for growth within a stable, 100-year-old company. The role involves performing routine maintenance, assisting with troubleshooting and repairs on industrial laundry equipment, and maintaining accurate records. Comprehensive training on industrial laundry equipment and access to a technical training platform are provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in a relevant field is preferred.
• Previous experience as a Class B Manufacturing Mechanic/Technician or a similar role in an industrial setting, preferably in the laundry industry.
• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems related to industrial equipment.
• Basic knowledge of troubleshooting and repair techniques for laundry equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams related to industrial laundry equipment.
• Familiarity with safety practices and protocols in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Solid attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to work independently while following instructions and guidelines.
• A computerized assessment is utilized as part of the recruiting process.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on industrial laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and press machines, to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and work with the team to resolve them promptly.
• Assist in repairing or replacing faulty components, parts, or systems as needed.
• Follow maintenance procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Document maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and inventory updates.
