About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced CDL B Rear Load Truck Drivers for their Rockaway, NJ location. This position offers a competitive hourly wage and a comprehensive benefits package. The role involves safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for waste and recyclable material pick-up, transporting materials to disposal or recycling facilities, and potentially making multiple trips per shift. Both manual and automatic trucks are used. The job requires physical exertion, including lifting and maneuvering materials, and frequent entry/exit from the truck cab.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, Understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
  • Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 Years Front Load Garbage Truck Driving experience required
  • Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transporting the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility.
  • Making one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Performing driver pre and post inspections to ensure the truck is in compliance with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
  • Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Performing highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
