About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced CDL B Front Load Truck Drivers for their Yonkers, NY location. This is a progressive and innovative company providing solid waste and recycling services. They offer a comprehensive benefits package and a family-style culture while operating as a large corporate company. Drivers will be responsible for safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of waste or recyclable material, transporting it to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities. The company utilizes both manual and automatic trucks. Drivers may need to lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount/dismount the truck multiple times per route. Routes may involve navigating congested communities and tight city areas, requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers. Drivers are also responsible for pre and post-trip inspections to ensure truck compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
  • Ability to Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work
  • At least 1 Year Front Load Garbage Truck experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility.
  • Make one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Perform driver pre and post inspections.
  • Ensure truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
