About The Position

The Building Center, Inc. is seeking a Class B Driver to deliver complete, accurate, and on-time deliveries to customers. The driver will represent the company in a professional, safe, and cost-effective manner, complying with all DOT and applicable regulations. This role is hourly, non-exempt, and reports to the Store Manager.

Requirements

CDL Class B License

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
CDL Class A or B License
Class D license for up to 26,000 pounds.
Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepares truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of truck and securing of items and by verifying the accuracy of shipping papers.
Inspects truck tires, lights, brakes, fluids, etc., to ensure safe and cost-effective performance, with preventive maintenance in mind.
Delivers orders via the most effective route to ensure complete orders are delivered according to established timeframes and customers’ needs.
Maintains communication with company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are received.
Documents delivery, accuracy, and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives and reports any discrepancies to company.
Increases customer satisfaction by collecting information and feedback on service and resolving complaints per company policy; communicates information back to company.
Informs customers of new products and services that can increase customer satisfaction and sales.
Maintains and monitors truck maintenance and driving record requirements; maintains required documents for safety, security, and quality processes.
Updates job knowledge.
Safely operates forklifts and other warehouse equipment, as required.
Maintains a safe driving record free of violations.
Performs occasional warehouse and counter duties.
Maintains proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies, as required.
Follows company policies and procedures.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
