About The Position

Jewish Family Service (JFS) is seeking a compassionate part-time driver to join our On-the-Go Transportation Team. In this role, you’ll provide safe, reliable transportation for older adults, helping them stay independent and connected to essential services across San Diego. This position works closely with the Transportation Manager and Aging Care Services team and plays a key role in delivering community-focused nonprofit support. Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class C Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement or Class B Driver's License
  • 2 years related transportation services to older adults
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Ability to utilize both paper routing information and GPS
  • Ability to calculate daily mileage and record transit activity
  • Ability to operate wheelchair lift equipped agency vehicles
  • Effective communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Paratransit experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, timely, and courteous transportation services for older adults to destinations such as medical appointments, errands, and community programs
  • Assist passengers as needed with entering and exiting vehicles in a safe and respectful manner
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive and supportive experience for all riders
  • Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in safe operating condition
  • Maintain a clean and well-kept vehicle interior and exterior; wash and sanitize as needed
  • Immediately report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents involving vehicles or passengers to the Transportation Manager
  • Adhere to all agency policies, traffic laws, and CHP safety standards
  • Maintain current Class B driver’s license or Class C with passenger endorsement as required
  • Complete all required documentation, including mileage logs, inspection forms, and incident reports accurately and promptly
  • Follow all agency safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety and compliance
  • Act as a positive ambassador of the agency, promoting respect, dignity, and inclusivity in all interactions
  • Communicate effectively with the Transportation Manager and Coordinators regarding schedule changes, delays, or rider needs
  • Participating in required training sessions, meetings, and continuing education opportunities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager
