About The Position

Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking a Class B Diesel Mechanic to perform inspections, diagnoses, and repairs on various vehicle systems including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, and brakes. This role involves working on diesel heavy trucks and engines, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting major component issues. The mechanic will ensure accurate diagnoses and effective repairs, while adhering to safety procedures and utilizing fleet maintenance software for documentation. Additional duties include assisting with equipment repairs, washing vehicles, conducting safety checks, responding to service calls for breakdowns, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
Computer diagnostic experience is required
Knowledge of safety procedures and practices

Nice To Haves

Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus
Trade school or similar training is a plus

Responsibilities

Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI).
Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment.
Ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Assist in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
Wash vehicles and equipment.
Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
Assist with service calls for breakdowns.
Perform other maintenance-related work as required.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
