About The Position

Cannon Industries, a global leader in sheet metal and custom weld fabrication, is seeking a skilled Class A Welder. This role involves fabricating and welding components according to customer drawings and specifications, ensuring the highest quality products are produced efficiently. A Class A Welder is proficient in all aspects of welding, capable of handling any project, consistently meeting or exceeding cycle times, and fabricating from prints without fixtures. This position requires minimal supervision, an advanced understanding of blueprints and weld symbols, and the ability to work with engineering on prototype development and fixture creation. Requirements

  • Job knowledge through suitable education or prior work experience.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move 25-50 pounds.
  • Meet minimum 20/20 vision standards (with corrective lenses if needed).
  • Score a minimum score on the in-house welding test.
  • Knowledge on how to set-up weld machine and lay a quality bead for both Mig and Tig.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols at an advanced level.
  • Accurately measure and lay out locations for welded components.
  • Adjust weld as needed to accommodate varying thicknesses of steel.
  • Operate grinder, drill, band saw, torch.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Stand, use hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must supply his/her own welding helmet and safety shoes.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the metric system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld components to produce the highest quality products at the lowest cost, while meeting departmental performance standards, customer specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Perform all aspects of welding, capable of welding any type of project while consistently meeting or exceeding cycle times.
  • Fabricate from prints without the aid of fixtures.
  • Do prototypes while also working with engineering to develop fixtures.
  • Be capable of being certified.
  • Interpret blueprints and understand weld symbols at an advanced level.
  • Set-up weld machine and lay a quality bead for both Mig and Tig.
  • Read and understand blueprints and weld symbols at an advanced level.
  • Accurately measure and lay out locations for welded components.
  • Adjust weld as needed to accommodate varying thicknesses of steel.
  • Operate grinder, drill, band saw, torch.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Using MIG and/or TIG, weld components together according to blueprints and Traveler.
  • Work at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to ensure timely completion.
  • Check and verify part numbers prior to assembly of product to customer specifications.
  • Notify supervisor of part shortages before the part runs out.
