About The Position
Mahoney is seeking a commercial driver to work as a Utility Driver at its depot at 1043 Jimmy Kerr Road, Haw River, North Carolina 27258. This is a full-time position requiring at least three years of commercial driving experience. The role starts at $29.50 per hour and has a midnight start time, 12-hour shifts, five days per week, including one overnight shift per week. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $750 after the six-month anniversary and $750 after the one-year anniversary. The driver handles grease-trap material and used cooking oil, moves tanks, and cleans around tanks. Work takes place outdoors in varying weather and may involve used-cooking-oil odors, high-traffic conditions, tight driving areas, and grease-coated equipment. The position requires the ability to drive through mountains and snow and to lift, push, or pull 100 pounds repeatedly.
Requirements
- A valid Class A or Class B commercial driver's license.
- At least three years of commercial driving experience.
- A tanker endorsement, or willingness to obtain one before the first day.
- An air brake endorsement.
- A good driving record and a safety risk rating within Mahoney's acceptable standards.
- A DOT-certified medical card.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 100 pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Confidence and ability to drive through mountains and snow.
Responsibilities
- Handle 2- to 3-inch hoses when pumping out grease-trap material and used cooking oil.
- Clean the area around tanks.
- Deliver, remove, and relocate used cooking oil tanks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
