About The Position

Allen Distribution is seeking reliable and adaptable individuals for part-time Class A Truck Driver positions with a flexible schedule. Requirements

  • Valid Class A license.
  • Valid Medical Card.
  • A minimum of 2 years verifiable driving experience.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 24 months.
  • Knowledge of established DOT regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • A solid knowledge of all safety and regulatory requirements of operating a Class A, commercial vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs, climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • A solid knowledge of DOT regulations and the ability to abide by such regulations 100% of the time.
  • Ability to understand and follow Allen Distribution policies and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Reports immediately to Dispatch any unsafe acts or equipment that may cause injury or damage to others.
  • Must have experience and be knowledgeable about Food Safety or willing to receive training in Food Safety.
  • Communicate effectively with customers as required.
  • Able to resolve issues promptly and/or request assistance from Dispatch Operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maneuvering a Class A Truck & Trailer within a cave setting is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport customer product via tractor trailer.
  • Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments are error and damage free.
  • Perform pre or post trip inspections and communicate findings for resolution.
  • Pick up and deliver assigned loads as scheduled.
  • Communicate immediately to Dispatch if a scheduled delivery time is at risk.
  • Communicate any service non-conformance to Dispatch.
  • Communicate with Dispatch when loads are complete and ready for the next assignment.
  • Communicate with Dispatch prior to the end of the day if anything else is required.
  • Secure cargo appropriately to protect from damage and theft.
  • Operate a Class A tractor trailer on commercial routes within the operating area.
  • Communicate effectively with Shippers and Consignees.
  • Work and communicate effectively with Shippers and Consignees, so that they believe, that they are our most important customer.
  • Read and understand work instructions from dispatch.
  • Work and understand electronic communication including but not limited to in cab communication and e-logs.
  • Understand regional geography, reading maps, following directions and making effective and efficient travel route decisions.
  • Contribute to the long-term success of the organization.
