About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions (CCFS) is seeking an experienced CDL driver for their Shuttle Driver position. This role is responsible for moving trailers and equipment both on Company property (approximately 85% of the time) and to off-site locations via short-haul shuttle runs (approximately 15% of the time). The driver will pick up and drop off trailers at various locations, spot and reposition trailers within the service center yard, and may serve as a backup for delivery routes. The position requires maintaining records in compliance with DOT guidelines. Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • At least 21 years of age
  • 1 year of commercial driving experience
  • No DUI’s or DWI’s (in the past 3 years)
  • No more than 3 traffic violations (in past 3 years)
  • Must have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain
  • Must be able to expertly maneuver a straight truck or tractor-trailer in difficult driving conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous freight handling, forklift, and electric pallet jack experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a tractor-trailer combination in a safe and legal manner both on Company property and on public roadways for off-site shuttle runs.
  • Hooks and unhooks various commercial combinations, manually lowers and raises landing gear, operates fifth wheel release levers, locks and releases pintle-hooks, attaches and releases safety chains, opens and closes cargo doors, climbs into and out of vehicles, and fuels and checks oil/coolant levels of vehicles.
  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Maintains driving records required to comply with State and Federal regulations.
  • Determines optimal method for loading freight to minimize damage and maximize trailer capacity; secures cargo within the vehicle to avoid damage.
  • Picks up and drops off trailers at customer facilities, drop yards, intermodal/rail locations, and partner carrier terminals as dispatched; obtains required paperwork (BOLs, interchange receipts) at each stop and returns completed documents to the service center.
  • Spots and repositions trailers within the service center yard to ensure proper dock door alignment and support timely loading/unloading operations.
  • May serve as a backup driver for delivery routes as operationally required; ability to sort and deliver freight to multiple stops is expected in this capacity.
  • Communicates trailer status, yard positions, and any equipment defects or delays to dispatch and the Service Center Manager in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding safety and hazardous materials.
  • Cleans and maintains the interior and exterior of vehicles according to Company vehicle standards.
