About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Houston, TX, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers an average of $1600 weekly or more, with weekly pay. A sign-on bonus of $2000 is offered, paid in two installments. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with two consecutive days off each week and 1-2 layovers per week. The start time is between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Paid training is provided. Drivers will deliver SOLO to TX, LA, MS, AR, OK. The tractor type is Day Cab and Sleeper, and must be able to drive a manual transmission. The trailer type is 48'-53' Dry Van with Lift Gate. Equipment includes an Electric Pallet Jack and Lift Gate. Freight is touch freight, specifically automotive parts. Endorsements required include Hazmat at the time of interview. A minimum of 9-12 months of Hazmat experience is required, along with 12 months of CDL A experience driving and route delivery experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Must have 9-12 Months Hazmat Experience
  • Must have 12 Months of CDL A experience driving
  • Route delivery experience required
  • Must be able to drive a manual transmission

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
