About The Position

Immediate opening for a SOLO Class A CDL Truck Driver at Ryder in Gadsden, AL. This position offers a weekly pay of $1100, with hourly pay at $20.00 per hour for 50 or more hours per week. Drivers can earn up to $2400 in annual bonuses. The schedule is Monday – Friday, with some Saturdays during peak times, and a start time of 6:00 am dispatch. The role involves delivering SOLO around Gadsden and surrounding areas, with the route being Home Daily. The tractor type is a Day Cab that must be able to drive a manual transmission, and the trailer type is a Flatbed. Experience with a Truck Mounted Forklift is required, and freight handling includes Load Securement and Strapping, with no tarping required. The freight is touch freight, consisting of brick and building materials. Trucks are equipped with 24/7 Roadside Maintenance, and drivers fuel up at over 800 Maintenance Facilities Nationwide. Ryder also offers a program to buy your truck if you are switching from Owner Operator to a Company Employee Driver.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission
• Experience with Truck Mounted Forklift

Nice To Haves

• 6 months experience preferred with Flatbed trailer type

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
• Performs other duties as assigned
