About The Position

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws. This is a 3rd Shift position, Sunday - Thursday, 10pm - 6am, starting at $25 per hour. The role involves supporting on-time delivery by transporting loads by established route to the proper destination as efficiently as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. The driver will also inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and verify product count before leaving the facility. Additionally, the driver must comply with obtaining correct acknowledgements or signatures for bills of lading and return properly completed documentation to the Transportation Manager. Duties may vary depending on location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • CDLA License
  • Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
  • Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
  • Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
  • Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy.
  • Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
  • Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
  • Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
  • Comply with performance measures.
