Class A Commercial Driver
About The Position
Super-Sod is seeking experienced and safety-conscious Class A CDL drivers to join their team. This role involves transporting seed, sod, and soil products to customers, ensuring efficient and reliable deliveries while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The position is primarily regional, involving vehicle operations on farms, retail facilities, and customer properties. Drivers are expected to be valuable members of the shipping and receiving operations, performing required maintenance, providing customer service, and operating material handling equipment. Requirements
- At least 23 years of age.
- 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving.
- Clean driving record with no major or excessive violations within the previous 3 years.
- Must possess valid Class A CDL and Medical Card, including multi-state certification status.
- Must pass background check and drug test.
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented.
- Physically and mentally fit.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
- Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.
- Able to operate electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.
- Map reading and route planning experience.
- An innate sense of direction.
- Self-starter who works well independently.
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
- High level of composure and good stress management.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Responsibilities
- Operate company-owned and leased trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
- Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of farm products and materials.
- Perform required before-, during- and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports.
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
- Operate all MHE or Material Handling Equipment.
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
- Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
