The Driver will be expected to transport metal roofing panels, metal trims, boxed goods, crated metal panels, and coil to our customers, distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor-trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service. The Ideal candidate will provide customer responsiveness and efficient material handling and delivery activities. This position is an over the road driving position 2-3 nights a week. Must demonstrate commercial driving and skills in maneuvering the truck and trailer at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in a tight loading dock area.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL License
  • Valid Medical Card
  • Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical
  • 2 years of previous tractor-trailer flatbed driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
  • Clean driving record
  • Hands on delivery experience
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable
  • Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work
  • Ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-drop delivery experience is a plus
  • Plan and manage time efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the unloading of products and/ or loading return products at customer locations and job sites
  • Safely assist in the unloading of the product using a Moffett forklift to customer’s location and/ or return products
  • Deliver material in a "route truck/multi-drop" fashion to destinations in a safe and timely manner
  • Our drivers are responsible for securing all loads on the trailers and checking that load multiple times during the route
  • Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. If unable to answer specific questions, direct customer to appropriate contact
  • Preform pre & post trip inspections thoroughly
  • All material delivered must be verified by the driver while being offloaded electronically or manually
  • Proof of delivery must be obtained
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle & equipment
  • Immediately report any repair or maintenance needed
  • May perform other duties as assigned
