About The Position

A Route Driver / Semi Driver is responsible for the operation of a grease collection truck to collect cooking oil, a fat and bone collection truck for removal of raw material from customer locations, and a pump truck to collect waste cooking oil. This role involves ensuring the cleanliness of containers and surrounding areas, proper completion of route tickets, and emptying customer grease traps. The driver will also collect and inspect raw material, maintain the required Electronic DOT log, and provide customers with receipts. A key aspect of this role is the responsible operation and maintenance of the company vehicle in accordance with all regulations and company policies, including conducting daily safety checks and inspections. Maintaining excellent customer relations through professional service and completing all required paperwork accurately and daily are also essential duties. The driver will be responsible for covering their assigned route and attending all required safety meetings.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL with a Tankers Endorsement.
  • Must have experience driving a manual transmission.
  • Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of prior experience operating a commercial vehicle, straight truck, tractor trailer and/or tanker preferred.
  • Experience with truck hydraulics a plus.
  • Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; adaptable to changing situations.
  • Must have a good driving record.
  • Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.

Responsibilities

  • Pump or load grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; return container with screen and lock secured; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly complete route ticket with customer signature.
  • Empty customers grease trap utilizing a company vehicle by pumping trap contents into vehicle.
  • Ensure cleanliness of trap area; cleaning all spilled grease if necessary.
  • Collect and inspect raw material at time of pick up for any foreign or hazardous material at customer location (Local Runs).
  • Maintain the required Electronic DOT log.
  • Provide customer with receipt of pick-up and obtains signature of management at location.
  • Responsible for company vehicle; maintain vehicle in cleanest possible manner; operate vehicle in accordance with Company, federal, state and local regulations.
  • Conduct all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observe all company safety rules.
  • Complete vehicle condition report daily; operate under all Company safety standards.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations by providing quality, professional service at all times.
  • Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc.) on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for covering established route as assigned.
  • Attendance at all safety meetings required; may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
