About The Position

The Lead Support Driver plays a critical role in maintaining operational continuity by traveling to various locations and filling in for route collection drivers during vacations, sick leave, staffing shortages, and other business needs. While efforts are made to keep travel within the assigned region, occasional travel outside the region may be required to support operations. This is a safety-sensitive position that demands a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and compliance. The Lead Support Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient collection and transportation of food waste materials while maintaining excellent customer service and adherence to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate Driver with the state of license issuance.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and PSP report.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age with a minimum of two (2) years of verifiable full-time tractor-trailer driving experience; OR at least 21 years of age with one (1) year of tractor-trailer experience and graduation from an accredited truck driving school; OR at least 21 years of age with one (1) year of Military driving experience.
  • Stable employment history.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, including understanding traffic signs, responding to official inquiries, and completing required reports and records.
  • Experience operating both manual and automatic transmission commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support regional business operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of Class A CDL driving experience with a strong safety record and no preventable accidents or major incidents.
  • Experience operating end dump trailers.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and equipment.
  • Experience using electric pallet jacks and maneuvering commercial waste containers, including 3-yard bins.
  • Strong time management and route management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining consistency and professionalism across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely load, haul, and deliver food waste materials on local and regional routes with multiple daily stops (typically 15–25 stops per day).
  • Travel as needed to support open routes across assigned regions and other operational areas when necessary.
  • Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including both manual and automatic transmission trucks, in compliance with DOT regulations and all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Safely operate equipment such as electric pallet jacks and hydraulic systems used in route collection operations.
  • Operate end dump trailers and other specialized equipment as required.
  • Utilize pressure washers to clean containers and collection bins, ensuring customer locations remain clean and free of debris.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report maintenance concerns.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on company bins and equipment using standard hand tools.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Utilize electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other required technology to maintain DOT compliance.
  • Accurately complete and submit contamination reports, service tickets, inspection reports, maintenance documentation, and other required paperwork.
  • Immediately report all accidents, injuries, incidents, and safety concerns to management.
  • Follow all Driver Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain professional interactions with customers and represent the company positively at all times.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when supporting different routes, facilities, and operational teams.
