This role involves the safe and effective delivery of goods, with drivers returning home daily. Responsibilities include operating a TAS with a 53’ dry van, adhering to all company policies and federal, state, and local regulations for commercial motor vehicle operation. Drivers will conduct pre-trip inspections, inspect and report on tractor and trailer condition, and operate tractor-trailer equipment in various configurations and conditions. Tasks also include dropping, hooking, spotting, and switching equipment, securing cargo, and communicating with Dispatch/Operations via PeopleNet or phone regarding movements, equipment issues, or delays. Drivers must report all accidents or incidents, provide initial contact with officials, and report any moving violations. Maintaining an electronic driver's log in accordance with FMCSA and company requirements is essential, along with staying knowledgeable of hours of service. Completing necessary paperwork, verifying shipping documentation, and performing roadside inspections are also key duties. The role requires working in adverse weather conditions and maintaining adequate production to meet service schedules. Professional communication with company contacts is expected.
