The role involves the safe operation of a TAS with a 53’ dry van, with approximately 80% of loads being drop and hook. Drivers are responsible for the safe and effective delivery of goods, adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations. An offered load cannot be refused. The position requires thorough pre-trip inspections, daily equipment checks, and safe operation of tractor-trailer equipment in various conditions and configurations. Responsibilities include dropping, hooking, spotting, and switching equipment, as well as managing landing gear. Drivers must ensure all required shipping documentation accompanies deliveries and properly secure cargo. Frequent communication with Dispatch/Operations via PeopleNet or phone is necessary to report stops, movements, equipment issues, cargo problems, and delays. Drivers must report all accidents or incidents, provide initial contact with officials, and report any moving violations. Maintaining an electronic driver's log in accordance with FMCSA and company requirements is crucial, along with staying knowledgeable of hours of service. Accurate completion of all necessary paperwork, including inspection reports, manifests, bills of lading, trip pay reports, fuel and mileage reports, and accident reports, is required. Verification of shipping documentation against load information and noting any discrepancies is also part of the role. Roadside inspections must be performed as required by law and company policy. The role involves working in adverse weather conditions and maintaining adequate production to meet service schedules. Professional communication with all company contacts is expected.
