About The Position

Safely delivers products to customer accounts as per assigned routes, offers excellent customer service, and upsells SESS products. Checks inventory, rotates stock, shelves products, and collects payments. The ideal candidate is team-oriented with a positive attitude. This role involves managing money throughout the day, providing accounting with collection details, and potentially managing a Driver Sales Assistant. Essential duties include validating truck inventory, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, delivering products according to route sheets, servicing accounts by checking freshness dates, rotating products, stocking shelves (hot and cold), and maximizing market share. The role also requires building relationships with accounts, upselling products, collecting payments, and following check-in procedures upon return. Flexibility is needed to change routes, assist other routes, and run hot shots when required. Safety is paramount, and employees are expected to follow safety rules, coach others on safety, and maintain a clean truck. Other duties may be assigned, and assistance to co-workers is expected.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Class A CDL.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong math skills and cash handling skills.
  • Operate various types of material handling equipment, including walkie riders, pallet jacks, standard forklifts, and order-picker forklifts as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Prioritize safety and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Manage orders using software systems and quickly learn new software.
  • Exhibit a team-oriented attitude and focus on customer service.
  • Must be in good physical condition with strong motor skills.
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively and occasionally up to 167 lbs.
  • Stand, lift, twist, bend, kneel, push, pull, and move for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Frequently climb in and out of truck cabs and bays, use stairs and ramps, work in tight spaces.
  • Work in all weather conditions.
  • Successful completion of drug test, background check, and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver products to customer accounts as per assigned routes.
  • Offer excellent customer service and upsell SESS products.
  • Check inventory, rotate stock, and shelve products.
  • Collect payments for orders and ensure checks are valid and correctly written.
  • Validate truck inventory against load sheet and follow morning check-out procedures.
  • Comply with DOT requirements by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Report maintenance or mechanical issues to the Fleet Mechanic Shop immediately.
  • Service accounts as needed, check freshness dates, rotate products, stock shelves (both hot and cold), and maximize SESS market share by keeping shelves full of product.
  • Build relationships with accounts, upsell and promote products, and represent SESS in a professional and customer-oriented manner.
  • Follow check-in procedures upon return, including accounting for returned product, consolidating pallets, and turning in collections for the day to accounting.
  • Be willing to change routes on short notice, assist other routes when requested, and run hot shots when needed.
  • Follow safety rules and safe work practices; coach others of safety when needed.
  • Ensure truck is clean of trash at the end of the day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and assist co-workers when necessary.
  • Manage money throughout the day and provide accounting with collection details.
  • Manage Driver Sales Assistant if/when one is assigned.
